A Spot of Brandy

It’s never not funny when reading an old book like Day of the Triffids or War of the Worlds or any kind of Poirot, when someone in all sincerity offers a shot of brandy to bring someone back to health.

After chatting with Unturned Hovel I’ve got the taste for it.

  1. A snifter of booze lets you regain 1 Luck. You can get this effect 3 times per day. Do this more than 3 times and you regain 1 Luck but lose 1d3 Stamina.

  2. Booze lets you regain 1d3 Luck, but you must test your Stamina (meaning you lose 1 regardless of success). If you fail you lose 1 Skill until you sleep for 8 hours. At 0 Skill you pass out.

  3. Booze lets you regain 1d6 Luck but you lose Stamina equal to the roll read as d3 (so if i roll (and regain) 3 Luck I lose 2 Stamina)

I think there’s something there. 2 is my favourite. The only concern with it is it makes the game operate around booze in a possibly obtrusive way. You could ‘cute it up’ by maybe saying only owl wine does this, and not beer, for instance. Like in Poirot, you’d never see Hastings say ‘Come on old chap, a quick tinny would do you the world of good’. Brandy only! It would also explain why those horrible owls are tolerated.
